I decided to start a new blog. It’s just been so incredibly busy and I want to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening
The next exciting event on my calendar is being the president of the panel that will select the first trumpet for La Scala, the world famous opera house in Milan.
Daniel Barenboim will be on the panel and I’m very much looking forward to working along side him. Hopefully, we’ll agree on who the best person for the job is – if we don’t, as head of the judges, I have the casting vote!
It is a real honour to be invited to La Scala – Milan is in one of my favourite cities, I love the culture, the food and obviously the music, so I’ll be soaking it all up during any spare time that I have.
I fly out in mid-May for 2 days of initial auditions with the final taking place on 27th May with Daniel Barenboim.
In the past I have helped Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai (OSN Rai) in Turin appoint a principal trumpet and found that to be very rewarding, so this is going to be a treat.
I will post about my experiences and try to let you know about some of my other projects – The English Brass Academy, The People’s Orchestra & The 91 Peaks Challenge!
